Giving Back: Colleagues Pack 100,000 meals in ONE DAY on the 100th day of AIG’s Centennial

The New York City office was bustling on the100th Day of AIG’s Centennial, as nearly 400 colleagues packed 100,000 meals that will be distributed to the world’s most vulnerable populations through Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief organization. During the event, AIG reached another milestone by packing our millionth meal to benefit the organization.

Thousands of people in need were a little less hungry thanks to meals donated by AIG to the charitable organization Rise Against Hunger. This international hunger relief organization, formerly known as Stop Hunger Now, distributes food and aid to the world’s most vulnerable populations in an effort to end hunger by 2030.

Since the start of the year, colleagues in multiple U.S. cities representing Consumer, Commercial, Finance, Enterprise Risk Management and other AIG businesses and functions have participated in volunteer activities benefiting the charity – making a difference in the lives of people they will never meet. On April 11, the 100th Day of AIG’s Centennial, New York City employees packed 100,000 Meals for Rise Against Hunger.

“Our team works together every day mitigating risk all around the world for our clients and helping rebuild lives and communities when disasters happen,” said Alessa Quane, Chief Risk Officer. “Volunteering to pack 100,000 meals with Rise Against Hunger was an excellent way for our team to continue the spirit of collaboration and service in the way we do best – helping those in times of need.”

“It was only natural for our colleagues to celebrate the 100th day of AIG’s Centennial year by giving back to our communities. For 100 years, AIG employees have helped make a better world through their work and dedication to service,” said Cindy Leggett-Flynn, Chief Communications Officer. “Having the opportunity to commemorate this milestone with Rise Against Hunger was incredibly meaningful for me, my team, and our colleagues around the world.”

Other events this year to help Rise Against Hunger have been held in Brentwood (Tennessee), Boston, Houston, Latham (New York), and Woodland Hills (California).

“We are not only packing rice and soy, but also creating hopes and opportunities for children around the world,” said on of the volunteers, David Dai, Actuarial Analyst. “Thanks AIG and Rise Against Hunger for hosting such a meaningful event to make a better world.”
