Georgia Teenager Attacks Student Wearing a LGBTQ Pride Rainbow Flag in Disturbing Viral Video

Justice has been served for a Georgia teenager whose violent high school attack was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media. According to reports, the culprit faces juvenile charges for attacking another student wearing an LGBTQ Pride flag after being egged on by peers with a $5 dare.

The Associated Press has reported that the “video of the incident was recorded last week at Lowndes High School in the south Georgia city of Valdosta. It shows a male student charging across the cafeteria and jerking the flag from the second boy’s back as he falls to the floor. A third student tries to push away the attacker, who slams the flag into a garbage can.”

In an interview with The Valdosta Daily Times, Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk reported that the teen who committed the hate-filled attack had been charged with disorderly conduct, simple battery and disruption of a public facility. The case has also been handed over to the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.

In a statement, Lowndes High School Assistant Principal Rodney Green reported that the victim of the attack suffered no serious physical injuries and said that school officials conducted a thorough investigation of what happened as soon as they heard about the video.

“We take the well-being and safety of our students seriously,” Green said. “Our staff works hard to provide a safe environment where all of our students feel valued.”

Green also said the teen who committed the attack is facing “the appropriate consequence” based on the school’s current code of conduct.
