TIAA’s Michael Rochon, a senior director of digital strategy, is glad he advocated with senior leadership to adjust the company’s parental leave policy for all family structures when he and his husband adopted a baby boy.
Rochon has participated in TIAA’s LGBTQ employee resource group, Alliance, and worked with other members of the ERG to advocate with senior leadership and other ERGs to make parental leave generous to diverse families. And the push for changes in parental leave policies worked.
“We have a gender neutral parental leave policy… Anyone who is a first-time parent can access 16 weeks of paid parental leave,” Rochon says.
