Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski does not think that being honest is necessary and admitted lying before about his exchanges with President Donald Trump.
On Tuesday during a testimony in Congress, Lewandowski acknowledged that “perhaps I was inaccurate” during a February interview on MSNBC. In that interview, Lewandowski said that he did not remember the President ever asking him to get involved with then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions or the Department of Justice, CNN reported.
But Mueller’s report stated that Lewandowski said that in June 2017, Trump told him to tell Sessions to hinder the Mueller investigation and that Lewandowski did not follow those orders.
When shown a clip of the interview in front of the congressional committee, he said “I have no obligation to be honest with the media.”

That’s partly true. It’s not a crime to lie on television but it is most definitely a crime to lie during an interview with federal agents as part of a criminal investigation. Barry Berke, a lawyer for the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, asked Lewandowski: “So you’re admitting that on national television you were lying there?”
“What I’m saying is, they have been inaccurate on many occasions and perhaps I was inaccurate that time,” Lewandowski replied. “I’m as honest as I can be, as often as I can be.”
That might not be very often. But Lewandowski said that he has never lied under oath or to federal investigators.
Other people close to the current administration have been caught lying in all sorts of situations and then faced criminal charges for it, including former Trump campaign official Rick Gates, former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn and former campaign adviser George Papadopoulos.
