Ferguson Judge Named in DOJ Report Resigns

Shortly after the Missouri Supreme Court tapped a state appeals-court judge to handle current and future municipal cases in Ferguson, Mo., the troubled city’s municipal court judge, Judge Ronald Brockmeyer—named in the Justice Department investigation into Ferguson for abusive fines and excessive jail sentences—resigned, KMOV-TV reports.

According to the DOJ report that exposed how law enforcement, the judiciary and the city council disenfranchised Black residents, Judge Brockmeyer was repeatedly described as being an important figure for revenue collection for the city of Ferguson.
