Project SEARCH, a one-year internship program which provides job training and education for high school seniors with cognitive disabilities celebrated its first graduating class on Wednesday, June 20. Below, John Pluhowski, SVP & Chief Communications Officer, TD Bank, congratulates the graduates and reflects on the success of the pilot program.

We are proud to celebrate the first graduating class of Project SEARCH interns at TD Bank. This one-year, high school transition program provides skills training and education for talented high school seniors with cognitive disabilities. Creating opportunities for people of all backgrounds and abilities to participate in their communities is a core building block of our Ready Commitment platform.

TD Bank kicked off its pilot program last year by inviting Michael, Tim and Charlie to participate in 10-week internships in our New Jersey offices. Based on the success of our graduates, we’ll be expanding this program next year and beyond.

Congratulations, again, to our fine graduates! You worked hard. You made a meaningful impact. And you showed us that fostering a barrier-free, inclusive culture for people of all abilities is good business. And special thanks to our amazing and passionate community partners at Camden County Educational Services Commission, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Department of Developmental Disabilities and The Arc of Camden.
