Recording Academy to Honor Dr. Dre for Decades of Work in Production

Dr. Dre, one of the biggest names in entertainment production, has worked with the likes of Eminem and Tupac. Now, he’s being honored by the Recording Academy.

On Friday, the Recording Academy announced that it will pay homage to Dr. Dre on Jan. 22 at Village Studios in Los Angeles in its Producers & Engineers Wing. It is one in a long list of honors that Dr. Dre has received over the years. Dr. Dre also has won six Grammys, three of which were for production.

The Recording Academy, which runs the Grammy Awards, recognizes achievements in the entertainment industry as well as advocates in different sectors of the business, such as for the preservation of recordings to offering internship opportunities.

Dr. Dre discovered and launched the careers of Eminem and 50 Cent, and has produced music for Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eve, Jay-Z, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Xzibit, Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige and The Game.
