On Aug. 11, Dow announced two leaders were recognized with Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference (HENAAC) awards for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) excellence.

Dr. Lidaris San Miguel Rivera, senior technical support and development scientist for Dow Coatings Materials, and Dr. Lauren Jackson, analytical manager, were recently selected as recipients HENAAC awards, which are distributed by Great Minds in STEM (GMiS), an organization that seeks to highlight and honor the achievements of the nation’s best and brightest Hispanic engineers, scientists, mathematicians, computer scientists and technology experts.

Dr. San Miguel Rivera is being recognized in the Professional Achievement I category. Her chemical expertise has led to the development of innovative solutions across silicones applications that resulted in seven granted patents, eight external publications, seven conference presentations and more than 45 internal technology reports.

Dr. Jackson was selected for the Most Promising Engineer, Ph. D. category. She currently leads Dow’s Sustainability Global Analytical Center of Excellence and global multidisciplinary teams to deliver complete, multi-million-dollar analytical portfolios tied in chemical manufacturing.

Both are actively involved in multiple Dow STEM outreach and mentorship programs in addition to holding leadership positions within the Hispanic and Latin Network (HLN) employee resource group.

“Dow takes pride in the diverse talent pipeline we have built over time,” said Mauro Gregorio, executive sponsor of Dow’s Hispanic and Latin Network (HLN) employee resource group and business president of Performance Materials and Coatings. “Our commitment to nurture, recruit, advance and celebrate Hispanic talent is consistently recognized by Great Minds in STEM every year with the prestigious HENAAC Awards. Congratulations to Lauren and Lidaris for making Dow shine as a place where inclusion and diversity are celebrated.”

All 2021 honorees will be recognized during the virtual 33rd Annual GMiS Conference, “First-Class Diversity, World-Class STEM,” on October 11-22, 2021.
