Fair360 Top 50 Competition FAQs

To understand the language of the Top 50 survey, view our Top 50 Glossary of Terms

The Fair360 Top 50, formerly DiversityInc survey, has been the leading assessment of workplace fairness in corporate America for over 20 years. Hundreds of companies participate in the free annual survey. Companies that do business with Fair360 do not receive preferential treatment.

The list is derived exclusively from corporate assessment submissions. To be considered for a spot in the Fair360 Top 50, a company must score above average in all six areas. Companies are evaluated within the context of their own industries.

Participants receive a free report card with comparative data and analytics across six categories: Human Capital Metrics, Leadership Accountability, Talent Programs, Workplace Practices, Supplier Fairness and Philanthropy.

You don’t have to compete in the Top 50 competition to receive a report card.

  • At least one employee from each company named to the Fair360 Top 50 must attend the Top 50 dinner in order to complete the application process and maintain a spot on the list.

Scoring utilizes a proprietary weighted algorithm based on company performance in six areas of workplace fairness: Human Capital Metrics, Leadership Accountability, Talent Programs, Workplace Practices, Supplier Fairness and Philanthropy.

Categories are weighted in descending order, with human capital metrics weighing the most heavily on scoring and philanthropy weighing the least heavily. Outcomes are also weighed heavier than best practices.

No. Every company that completes the assessment will receive a free report card assessing overall performance versus all participants and performance in the six key areas measured. Companies that want more in-depth benchmark comparisons should contact Top50@fair360.com.

Most companies use the previous calendar year. For example, the 2024 assessment would use January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023. However, you may use your company’s fiscal year as your reporting period so long as the timeframe for reporting is consistent year to year. We recommend using the calendar year to give you the most accurate comparative data.

No. We do require companies to have their CEO or another company officer (not including the Chief Equity Officer) sign a letter confirming that, to the best of their knowledge, the data submitted is correct. The letter must be notarized.
