Fair360 Events: Rita Mitjans

Rita Mitjans

A native of Cuba, Rita Mitjans moved to the United States at age 7. It was through the encouragement and support of friends, family and mentors that she pursued a career in business and marketing. “You have to give people the encouragement and the confidence that anything is possible,” Mitjans told Fair360, formerly DiversityInc. “We live in a country where limitations are often only the ones you put on yourself. It’s not about entitlementit’s about giving everyone an opportunity to pursue what they are capable of to be successful.”

Mitjans was appointed ADP’s Chief Diversity & Corporate Social Responsibility Officer in 2013. Her goals include increasing the representation of traditionally underrepresented groups in senior management, enhancing the company’s cross-cultural mentoring program and promoting accountability in leadership. She previously served as ADP’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Division Vice President of Benefits Services.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from St. John’s University and an M.B.A. in finance and general management from the Harvard Business School. She serves on the board of directors of the New Jersey City University Foundation and the board of advisors of Catalyst, and she is a member of the Council of Global Diversity & Inclusion Executives of The Conference Board.
