Through our workforce development programs, CVS Health leverages recruitment and training systems to target youth, mature workers, veterans, individuals with disabilities and others facing barriers to providing access to gainful employment. To help those reintegrating into society after a history of incarceration, we collaborate with community organizations to train, recruit and mentor job seekers with a criminal record. In 2021 we hired over 4,000 individuals through these ‘second chance’ efforts.   

To connect excellent students with promising career pathways, CVS Health conducts outreach at college campuses to recruit hardworking students into valuable positions. In 2021, CVS Health expanded our college recruiting efforts from 11 HBCUs and 44 HSIs to include 87 HBCUs and 90 HSIs, deepening our pool of diverse talent.  

CVS Health’s employee-led Colleague Resource Groups (CRGs) drive a culture of inclusion. More than 26,000 individual colleagues participate in 16 CRGs, with over 81 local chapters across the country. Our newest CRG, Mental Well-Being, launched in 2021 and already boasts more than 1700 members. CRGs enable our employees to develop and grow professionally, while also providing the opportunity to connect with one another through a particular affinity, culture or perspective. 

 We also have a Diversity Management Leadership Council (DMLC), a group of cross-functional senior leaders who are accountable for implementing diversity management in their respective parts of the business, serving as peer coaches and internal and external champions. 

CVS Health’s nationally recognized supplier diversity program helps support businesses owned by women, people of color, veterans and service-disabled veterans, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people and people who are traditionally disenfranchised. In 2021, we spent over $2.9 billion with diverse suppliers and over $1.6 billion with small businesses.
