“Inclusion is deeply rooted in CVS Health’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health. I believe our diversified workforce is one of our company’s greatest strengths, and together approximately 300,000 of us join forces daily to uphold our shared commitment of mutual respect in everything we do. We know that when our workforce reflects the diversity of the communities we serve, our business thrives.”
From The Company
CVS Health is a different kind of healthcare company. We are a diversified health services company with approximately 300,000 employees united around the common purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
Our strategic diversity management model is connected to every aspect of the business and is inclusive of everyone we care for each day.
Last year, after the killing of George Floyd, we committed nearly $600 million to advance employee, community and public policy initiatives that address injustice and inequity faced by the Black community and other disenfranchised communities.
These investments build on our efforts to champion diversity, equity, inclusion and justice throughout our company and in the communities we serve, including longstanding commitments in employee development and training; diverse supplier leadership; community-based workforce initiative; and collaboration with civil rights and social justice organizations.
Fostering a culture of inclusion is a critical priority for CVS Health. Through our workforce development programs, the company focuses on attracting and equipping diverse talent for careers with us, ensuring that youth, mature workers, veterans and individuals with disabilities have access to meaningful employment. We also collaborate with local, state and federal agencies to provide employment services and training to underserved and often overlooked communities.
At CVS Health, our CRGs are core to our work to foster inclusion. By the end of 2020, we had more than 22,000 individual colleagues participating in one of our 15 CRGs, and began to reinforce opportunities for colleagues to join groups as an ally, in addition to their self-identification or affiliation.
We also have a Diversity Management Leadership Council (DMLC), a group of cross-functional senior leaders who are accountable for implementing diversity management in their respective parts of the business, serving as peer coaches and internal and external champions.
In addition, our nationally recognized supplier diversity program helps support businesses owned by women, people of color, veterans, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people and people who are disenfranchised. In 2020, our supplier diversity program supported more than 46,000 jobs and $2.3 billion in wages.
CVS Health is committed to inclusion and diversity for our customers through our service offerings, marketing and communications. When our customers visit any one of our touchpoints, we want to offer more than just the products and services they rely on us to provide. We have made strides in tailoring those offerings and the skills of our workforce to meet the unique needs and expectations of the thousands of communities we serve.
