Cox Communications Names Karen Bennett as Chief Human Resources Officer

Cox Communications (No. 18 on the Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies list) has announced that Karen Bennett will join the company as executive vice president and chief human resources officer. Since 2015, Bennet has served as senior vice president and chief human resources officer at Cox Media Group, Cox Communications’ sister company that owns newspapers, TV and radio stations and digital media properties.

Bennett is a veteran human resources leader who has led teams that focus on talent management and succession planning, performance management, employee development, compensation, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance and best practices in people-related policies and procedures.

“Karen has a reputation for building strong, collaborative relationships, backed by a 25-year track record as a proven leader of HR and a respected business strategist,” said Pat Esser, president, Cox Communications. “She will develop and execute a talent strategy that aligns with our operating principles and help us work through the challenges of driving continual growth in our rapidly evolving business.”

Prior to joining Cox Media Group, Bennett was senior vice president and chief human resources officer for YP (formerly AT&T Ad Solutions). She also served as senior vice president of human resources for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. for nearly 14 years.

Bennett is a graduate of Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia where she earned her bachelor’s and executive MBA degrees.
