President and CEO

TIAA has made diversity, equity and inclusion a cornerstone of its culture. Now more than ever, companies need to create cultures where employees can bring their true, authentic selves to work and be supported by their peers and mentors. Fostering a diverse and inclusive environment is not only the right thing to do but also what’s best for the long-term health of our business.

Corie Pauling
Senior Vice President and Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer

We know that business and workforce innovation are propelled by the diverse perspectives in our organization. Through cutting-edge workforce analytics linked to business impact, our inclusion, diversity and equity strategy helps us deliver to our clients every day.

From The Company

We recognize that our culture is shaped by how we respond to events beyond our office walls. Social injustice and inequalities in our society demand that we intensify our focus on equipping and empowering associates to continue influencing for inclusion and equity at TIAA and in their communities.

Through our groundbreaking platform “Be The Change,” we have inspired education, connection and advocacy for embracing and respecting differences, and encouraged dialogue about race within teams and across the organization.

In 2020, we hosted more than three dozen events and sustainable process-based initiatives focused on how we can all be more inclusive and anti-racist going forward. Of note, “Be The Change” advanced our supplier diversity strategy where we focused on mentoring diverse suppliers, educating on our anti-racism platform and identifying Black-owned businesses for procurement opportunities.

Additionally, our Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) efforts include ongoing critical examination of core business and management practices for potential bias and inequity. This includes enhancing our focus on performance-rating equity, pay equity, mentorship-to-sponsorship initiatives and associate mobility opportunities through innovative, real-time improvements to key processes.

We at TIAA are excited to welcome Thasunda Brown Duckett as our new CEO. Thasunda is a leader with vision and a true difference-maker, with a deep passion for helping people from all walks of life improve their financial well-being.
