Our thoughts and hearts are with all of the employees, customers, and communities who have been impacted by the catastrophic flooding and devastating effects of Hurricane Ida.
To help support immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts in the areas hardest hit by the storm within our footprint in Louisiana (Houma and LaPlace), Pennsylvania (Philadelphia and surrounding counties), and New Jersey, Comcast NBCUniversal has committed to providing up to $750,000 in total cash contributions.
The funds will be shared among several organizations, including the American Red Cross, Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Philadelphia Foundation, and United Cajun Navy. This commitment also includes a cash contribution to the Comcast NBCUniversal Employee Disaster Assistance Fund to provide financial assistance to impacted employees.
Through the Comcast NBCUniversal Matching Gift Program, the company will match employee donations to eligible nonprofit disaster relief organizations. Additionally, NBC and Telemundo owned stations have launched local campaigns to raise awareness of ways to support the affected communities and encourage donations.
Wherever commercial power and our services are restored, Xfinity WiFi hotspots nationwide are open for free use through the end of the year to aid residents and relief workers in staying connected. Xfinity has also created an On Demand destination where customers can access the latest recovery and response news on X1 and Flex – simply say “Hurricane Ida” into the Xfinity Voice Remote to explore the latest.
For the numerous individuals, families, and businesses affected, we know the hard work of building back is only just beginning. In the weeks and months to come, we will continue to work with our community partners to make additional grants to local organizations across the markets impacted by Hurricane Ida to support the rebuilding efforts.
