Comcast NBCUniversal and Telemundo Enterprises have partnered with economic development nonprofits Prospera and The Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) to bring new resources to Hispanic-owned businesses.

Each organization will receive a cash grant of $75,000 from Comcast NBCUniversal and Telemundo Enterprises as part of Comcast NBCUniversal’s $100 million commitment to advance social justice and equality.

Comcast NBCUniversal’s investment in Prospera will support Hispanic entrepreneurs and small business owners in Florida, North Carolina, and surrounding markets. The funding will enhance Prospera’s programs and services to provide educational resources, access to capital, and advance digital equity to help provide business owners with the tools needed today and in the future.

“We are grateful for Comcast NBCUniversal and Telemundo’s support of our mission, and the opportunity to further support Hispanic entrepreneurs and small business owners,” said Prospera President & CEO Augusto Sanabria. “The media platform’s national perspective and commitment to the Hispanic community will surely be positive assets for our organization at this time of critical growth and impact.”

The company’s grant to HACE will support the launch of the inaugural Mujeres de HACE Entrepreneurs cohort. The 10-session program is designed for Latina business owners to help strengthen, enhance, and scale their business, all while providing them access to capital resources, meaningful networks, and subject matter experts.

“Latinas are opening businesses seven times faster than any other demographic group and have shared with us that they need immediate support and resources especially as they are recovering from the pandemic,” said Patricia Mota, President & CEO of HACE. “Thanks to the support of Comcast NBCUniversal and Telemundo, we are excited to launch the inaugural Mujeres de HACE Entrepreneurs program to offer much needed resources from experts directly to Latina entrepreneurs. For years, we’ve supported Latinx coaches and trainers by contracting them to deliver our programs, and now the Mujeres de HACE Entrepreneurs program is an added intentional program to further elevate the support for our Latina entrepreneurs.”

These grants recognize the important work of HACE and Prospera in uplifting the work of Latino-owned businesses, which account for about 4% of U.S. business revenues and 5.5% of U.S. employment.

Telemundo Enterprises is committed to supporting Hispanic-owned businesses at every stage through its Nuestros Negocios (Our Businesses) program, which spotlights small and medium-sized Hispanic-owned businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and promotes services available to help them sustain their businesses through the current crisis.

These announcements are also an extension of Comcast NBCUniversal’s ongoing commitment to supporting Hispanic and Latino small business owners through programs like Comcast RISE, which provides marketing, technology, and capital resources to communities and small businesses owners of color in the wake of the pandemic. And through Project UP, a comprehensive initiative to advance digital equity and help build a future of unlimited possibilities that is backed by a $1 billion commitment to reach 50 million people.
