Now in its 18th year, Comcast Cares Day is one of the most significant corporate commitments to volunteerism and service. And for the first time this year, we are joined by our colleagues at Sky. While our companywide celebration is on Saturday, May 4, our enthusiasm shines through the hundreds of projects that we will help plan and participate in throughout the months of April and May. The range of activities reflects the diversity of skills and interests across our employees – including facilitating coding workshops, revitalizing community gardens, coaching young people with disabilities, and painting inspirational murals in schools. Our employees, their friends and family, and hundreds of community partners come together to make Comcast Cares Day truly special.
Last year, more than 115,000 volunteers in 23 countries made a lasting, positive impact in the communities where our customers and employees live and work. We also engaged our one millionth volunteer since the first Comcast Cares Day was held in 2001. We see this same drive reflected in the efforts of our employees worldwide and are especially proud that our engagement extends well past Comcast Cares Day: from closing the digital divide through Internet Essentials, to funding critical programming to prepare individuals for 21st century careers, to employees serving on nonprofit boards, our employees are passionate about giving back each and every day.
It’s this positive impact that we celebrate together on Comcast Cares Day, where this year we are on track to drive over 1,000 projects in more than 20 countries. I’m looking forward to standing alongside so many of you as we help strengthen communities around the world.
