From The Company

Citizens has long been committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I).

In 2020, we announced a $10 million investment to drive equity and economic advancement in underserved communities across our footprint, plus more than $500 million in incremental financing and capital for small businesses, housing and other developments in minority communities.

We’ve hosted expert-led educational colleague sessions on standing against racism, unconscious bias and identifying ways to create inclusion and equity in systems and processes. We’ve launched Let’s Talk for nonprofit partners and clients, to facilitate dialogue leading to greater understanding. We’ve partnered with EVERFI to sponsor a national digital learning program designed to inspire students with stories about the Black experience, and announced partnerships with Black Girls Code and Girls Who Code to encourage learning computer science skills and exploring careers in technology.

We’ve made significant strides toward building a diverse workforce, implementing recruiting and development initiatives facilitating progress, including a third-party audit to de-bias practices and expanding outreach to help identify qualified diverse candidates.

Among our key catalysts for change are our Business Resource Groups serving multicultural colleagues, women, LGBTQ colleagues, veterans, rising professionals and those with disabilities. Members serve as cultural ambassadors to help influence DE&I strategy and identify and solve related issues.

Citizens is committed to performing our best for our customers, colleagues and communities and to fostering a culture where all feel valued, respected and heard. We are proud to be recognized in such esteemed company by DiversityInc.
