Global health service company Cigna (NYSE:CI) has named Dr. Vaishali Geib as market medical executive for the company’s Mid-Atlantic market, which covers the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia.
In this role, Dr. Geib will provide medical leadership and clinical guidance with a special focus on physician and hospital system collaboration, network development, client growth and retention, quality improvement and total medical cost reduction.
Dr. Geib brings to the role two decades of experience as a clinician and in healthcare management.
“Dr. Geib has the right mix of skills that will help Cigna deliver on our promise to improve affordability and quality of care for our customers and clients,” said Dr. Christina Stasiuk, senior medical director, Cigna. “Dr. Geib will play an important consultative role with our employer clients and health care providers as we all work together to deliver a more sustainable health care system in the Mid-Atlantic market.
Dr. Geib earned her medical degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, in Kansas City MO. She then completed a residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and a fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona, Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine.
After completing medical training, Dr. Geib was involved in business development and healthcare sales. Dr. Geib has spent more than 20 years in private practice in internal medicine at ReshapeMD in Mclean Va. She then served as a medical director of quality and health population at Privia Health, LLC.
Dr. Geib is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is licensed in Virginia.
