Cigna Corporation, a global health service company, is bolstering its Medicare Advantage (MA) presence in Central Florida by adding new counties and giving customers more provider choices.

Medicare Advantage plans are available to people age 65 and over and others who qualify. They are popular with beneficiaries because they are affordable and offer benefits that traditional Medicare doesn’t offer, such as vision, hearing and dental benefits.

“Our population is rapidly aging across the country, especially in Florida where more than 20 percent of our residents are 65 years old or older,” said Steve Saathoff, Cigna’s Medicare Advantage Market President for Central and South Florida. “Medicare Advantage plans have proven to be very popular with older adults and an effective option to help them to maintain or manage their health as they age.”

Cigna is growing its MA presence in Florida by adding plans in Sarasota and Marion counties in Central Florida for the very first time.

Additionally, Cigna has expanded its relationship with HCA Healthcare in Central Florida and the Treasure Coast. HCA Healthcare’s comprehensive medical facilities, primary care physicians and specialists are now available to all Cigna MA customers in those markets.

HCA Healthcare’s Treasure Coast facilities include Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, St. Lucie Medical Center, Highlands Regional Medical Center, Raulerson Hospital, St. Lucie Medical Center Emergency Room at Darwin Square and Vero Beach Emergency Room, a campus of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

“We are always looking to add trusted providers to our growing MA network in order to give our customers more quality choices,” said Saathoff.

In addition to the two new counties, Cigna continues to offer MA plans in the following Central Florida counties: Brevard, Flagler, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lake, Manatee, Osceola, Orange, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia counties. It also offers plans in Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties on the Treasure Coast.

There is at least one $0 premium plan in each market. Other benefits vary by plan type and geography.

Medicare’s Annual Election Period began October 15 and continues through December 7. This is the one time each year when most people can pick or change plans. Health plans purchased during AEP are effective January 1, 2022.

Cigna also offers Medicare Supplement plans and standalone prescription drug plans in Florida to provide customers with choices for every budget and lifestyle.
