Carlos F. Orta is the head of strategic growth and program development at DiversityInc, reporting to the CEO, Carolynn Johnson.
Orta is responsible for marketing and brand management for all products, events and content, working with managing editor and the head of strategic partnerships to develop the editorial plan for DiversityInc Best Practices, as well as working with the director of research and senior research associate to plan calendars for research reports.
Orta brings a unique and diverse background to DiversityInc; he began his career in the public sector and politics, working for two members of the Florida House of Representatives and as the executive director of the Miami-Dade County Legislative Delegation. Thereafter, Orta’s experience includes working at four global Fortune 500 companies in the areas of philanthropy, government affairs, communications and external relations. Between 2006 and 2014, he served as president and CEO of the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR), where he doubled revenue and increased corporate memberships by 45%. He also created and launched five new programs at HACR that are still in operation today.
Orta has a proven track record of success in building strategic alliances and partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders across the United States and internationally, which will be invaluable in meeting departmental goals and objectives. Orta is a graduate of Barry University with a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies. He has also completed executive-level educational programs on corporate governance at Harvard Business School and Latino leadership development at the University of California, Los Angeles.
