Novant Health

As President and CEO of Novant Health since 2012, Carl Armato oversees more than 1,200 physicians and 26,000 employees at hundreds of outpatient facilities, medical centers and clinics. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer and as President of Novant Health Markets.

Armato joined Novant in 1998 as Vice President of Finance and Operations for the physician divisions in Charlotte and Winston-Salem, N.C. He has also served as Novant Health’s Senior Vice President of Materials Management and Logistics and as President and CEO of Presbyterian Healthcare.

Prior to joining Novant Health, Armato held numerous leadership roles in the healthcare field, including Vice President of Operations at First Care Physicians and Director of Finance for the Baton Rouge, La., General Health System. He was also a Senior Tax/Audit Consultant for Ernst & Young.

Armato earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accounting from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and an M.B.A. from Norwich University. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Society of Certified Public Accountants, the State Board of CPAs of Louisiana and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He is also a past board chair of Mecklenburg Citizens for Public Education.
