A deputy district attorney made racially charged and violent posts about Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), calling her a “c**t” and “b*tch” and calling for violence against her. Despite the DA’s office being aware for nearly two weeks, San Bernardino County Deputy District Attorney Michael Selyem remains employed there.
“Being a loud-mouth c–t in the ghetto you would think someone would have shot this b—h by now,” Selyem reportedly wrote on social media.
Facebook and Instagram accounts for the 50-year-old prosecutor are no longer active, but the San Bernardino Sun posted screenshots.
According to the Sun, Selyem’s office has known about the comments since the end of June and he “has been the subject of an internal investigation.”
Waters has been the victim of increasing violent threats since President Trump falsely claimed that Waters told people to harass his supporters.
At a rally Waters called on supporters to be proactive in their protests and approach Trump’s cabinet members no matter where they may be.
“If you see anybody in that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them,” she said. “And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere. We’ve got to get the children connected to their parents. The children are suffering.”
The threats that followed became so serious she had to cancel two scheduled events. But calls for violence against the congresswoman did not stop even her fellow Democrats from throwing her under the bus. Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi separately denounced Waters’ comments, calling them “not American” and “understandable but unacceptable,” respectively.
The Sun, meanwhile, reported that Selyem has also come after former First Lady Michelle Obama, posting an altered photo of her holding a sign that reads, “Trump grabbed my p*nis.”
And he said that a man shot by a police officer “deserved” to die. “That s***bag got exactly what he deserved. You reap what you sow. And by the way go f*** yourself you liberal s***bag,” he allegedly wrote, although it is not clear which shooting he was referring to.
“One of Selyem’s posts showed a man in a giant sombrero with the words, ‘Mexican word of the day: Hide,'” according to the Sun.
And, commenting on a post by alt-right publication Breitbart News, he reportedly wrote: “I am all for white males immigrating here legally and starting a business. It is the terrorist a**holes sneaking in here wanting to kill me an (sic) my family that I am opposed to. I cannot believe how shallow democrats are. They must really think people are stupid. I guess that is evident because they actually thought Hilary (sic) Clinton could win a presidential election TWICE!!! LMFAO!!!”
