To Nurses: AT&T Salutes You

Not all Heroes Wear Capes

“I am of certain convinced that the greatest heroes are those who do their duty in the daily grind of domestic affairs whilst the world whirls as a maddening dreidel.” – Florence Nightingale

May 12th marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. Throughout history, you have followed in her footsteps on the frontlines, providing exemplary, heroic care in the face of extreme adversity.

As an organization dedicated to helping first responders and healthcare professionals collect, share and analyze information, AT&T salutes YOU!

For what you are doing now to address the pandemic and for what you’ve always done for those in your care:

When the World Health Organization designated 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, we had no idea we’d be facing a public health crisis of this magnitude. But as the coronavirus (COVID-19) spread, you tirelessly worked to save the lives of those patients adversely impacted—and on top of your regular caseload. You continue to sacrifice time with family and friends, and often your own health.

Sometimes a kind word or thank you is all that is needed.  However, as Florence Nightingale once said, “I think one’s feelings waste themselves in words; they ought all to be distilled into actions which bring results.”

In addition to our words of gratitude, teams around the business have acted to help support you on the frontline.  We are grateful for the work you are doing day in and day out to combat this deadly virus and to keep the rest of us safe. Here are some resources available for frontline workers:

  • org, a free service that enables healthcare workers and first responders to make unlimited free 30- or 60-minute sessions with experienced, professional coaches who can provide emotional support, until July 31, 2020.
  • Project SAFE(Students Assisting Frontline Employees)– AT&T Technology professionals and interns across 10 cities are 3D-printing at least 7,500 face shields in the next three months and delivering to healthcare organizations facing PPE shortages. Follow #ConnectedTogether.
  • World Central Kitchen– AT&T committed $5.5 million in the form of nourishing meals for first responders, medical personnel and others in need. $1.5 million of the donation will be contributed to World Central Kitchen, which our Global Business-Healthcare Solutions team is helping align and coordinate meal delivery to healthcare organizations in Seattle, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit and New Orleans so far. Follow #ChefsForAmerica
  • FirstNet Healthcare Appreciation Offer– We’re giving frontline nurses and physicians on the FirstNet® network 3 months of free wireless service for a smartphone or tablet with eligible new or existing FirstNet Mobile–Responder plan.*

We are all “Connected Together” and we appreciate all that you do.

“So never lose an opportunity of urging a practical beginning, however small, for it is wonderful how often in such matters the mustard-seed germinates and roots itself.” – Florence Nightingale
