April 2016 Top 50 Event Sponsor | Prudential

The company, which has made the DiversityInc Top 50 list every year since the list started in 2001, has deep commitment from its senior leadership, starting with Chairman and CEO John R. Strangfeld. He signs off on executive compensation tied to diversity and is a strong community leader in Newark, N.J., where Prudential Financial is headquartered. In addition, he has been a tireless advocate for veterans, especially those seeking to transition into careers in corporate America.

His support is felt by the entire leadership team, who have signed Prudential’s “Commitment to Diversity” statement, which sits on the company’s corporate intranet and external websites.

Michele C. Green, Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, leads a D&I initiative that is focused on talent development through mentoring, sponsorship and succession planning for diverse talent.

She also personally supports many multicultural organizations and serves on the board of directors of the National Organization on Disability (NOD), where DiversityInc CEO Luke Visconti is also a board member, and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN).

Her department oversees Prudential Financial’s seven Business Resource Groups, which include Abled & Disabled Associates Partnering Together (ADAPT); Prudential Military Veterans Network (VETNET); Employee Association of Gay Men, Lesbians, Bisexual, Transgender & Allies (EAGLES); and Prudential’s newest BRG, Generations, which focuses on generational diversity.

The oldest group has been in existence since 1993, and they all have formal charters. Their success is measured by a twice-yearly review of their performance in talent-sourcing support, professional development, business integration, community outreach and diversity awareness and education.

In addition, Prudential Financial has had significant and increasing outreach to the multicultural marketplace, with detailed white papers researching the financial needs and concerns of diverse populations, especially women, Blacks, LGBTs and Hispanics.
