Alexis Ohanian, co-founder and executive chairman of Reddit married to tennis superstar Serena Williams, wants to learn how to style his 20-month-old baby girl Alexis Olympia’s natural hair.
The Internet entrepreneur and investor sought out advice on social media.
Ohanian tweeted on Thursday:
Just applied to join 4 private Natural Hair facebook groups. I hope they don’t auto-reject my application when they see my profile photo ?
I told them it was to keep getting better at doing my daughter’s hair.

Not only did Twitter users applaud Ohanian for wanting to be that dad who grooms his daughter’s hair, but they also started providing helpful tips on where he could find knowledge.
Also the power of YouTube is unmatched in this space honestly. Helped me level up my hair styling game substantially.
Also IG can provide a lot of style inspo through hashtags and you can create a private board.

Agreed! The daddy daughter Youtube accounts are the best!

There are a ton of excellent YouTube vids; I’ll bet there are also local meetups.
BUT … I’ll also bet that you could go to the salon once a week with your daughter (date!) and they’ll teach you.
I have two daughters and have been too reliant on YouTube.
Godspeeed!

Some men posted pictures proudly showing how they’ve styled their daughter’s hair:
Impressive!!

Others recommended books, such as Matthew A. Cherry’s recent release “Hair Love,” illustrated by Vashti Harrison. Cherry is a former NFL wide receiver turned filmmaker. “Hair Love” is a book based on the animated short film, which is the story of a father, Stephen, and his relationship with his daughter Zuri and her hair.
Thanks for sharing Franklin. I do really think you all would enjoy it. It’s really about what parents are willing to do when their kids ask them to do something and they’ll do whatever it takes to figure it out for them.

One Tweet summed up the sentiment on Ohanian’s Twitter thread:
Awww this is the sweetest thing on Twitter today. They will accept your invite if not we are here for you to share some tips.

Ohanian, whose grandparents came to the US as refugees after the Armenian Genocide, wrote a letter to his younger self in March as part of CBS’ Note to Self series.
“You’ll spend your whole life creating: websites, companies, even logos that millions of people love, but none of those compare to how proud of you are of your most important creation: your family,” he wrote.
