AIG’s Shailesh Mathankar, the assistant vice president of data management & analytics at AIG, shares his thoughts on the importance of everybody’s role when working toward common goals, or “the big picture.” Mathankar shares an anecdote of John F. Kennedy’s visit to the NASA Space station in 1962 where he spoke with a janitor who saw his own role as necessary in helping to put a man on the moon. Mathankar discusses how seemingly small roles can help shape the greater objective and how employees shape the very definitions of their roles.
