Accenture: A New Ritual, On Purpose We Are Change #OnPurpose

Work is not where we usually engage in meaningful rituals, yet there’s a lot of power in routine practices like sharing success, checking in with each other and taking meditation breaks. The Calm app got me thinking about this when I tuned into an interview with Casper ter Kuile, author of “The Power of Ritual: Turning Everyday Activities into Soulful Practices.”

It helped me reflect on which moments deserve more careful consideration – moments that could otherwise be missed if we don’t put the right practices in place.

So, I’m starting a new ritual at Accenture: celebrating our people who are closing gaps and paving paths to help our communities, either as part of their roles at Accenture, in their personal lives, or both.

They are change. They are making a difference – #OnPurpose.

Throughout November, I plan to post stories on LinkedIn to recognize, and show gratitude for, my colleagues who stand for compassion and hope; the ones who are helping the homeless, striving for equality, supporting veterans, fighting human trafficking and so much more.

This ritual will not – cannot – end in a month. The momentum will continue, so stay tuned for more examples of people that lead change.

Will this catch on? I don’t know about you, but I think we all need rituals that remind us that we are connected; that create space in our lives for empathy and understanding. I hope this helps all of us have more meaningful and purposeful moments that remind us of what really matters: Gratitude. Compassion. Hope.
