The NFL seems to have a penchant for employing racists. The league has been plagued with racism from the owners, coaches and now reporters.
Black Sports Online discovered tweets from Baltimore Ravens’ reporter LindsayOk and exposed them. She had a history of making a series of highly offensive, racist and homophobic tweets.
Lindsey Ok covers the Baltimore NFL team for Ravens Wire, which is part of the USA Today network.
In the now deleted tweets, she mocked people for their race or sexuality including tweets ranging from Asian drivers to gays. Ok left no stone unturned when it came to being a bigot.

Attempting to head off the growing backlash, Ok issued the standard “whitewashed apology,” which always happens when racists are exposed. She blamed the egregious tweets on youth and “being misunderstood.”
In an “I said what I said.”-type apology, Ok vehemently denies what anybody with halfway working eyes can see. She is a bigot.

There is a growing trend around of these kinds of tweets surfacing so it’s important that public figures, including journalists, know that they will be taken at face value. Nobody is going to take the time to discern if this was really what was meant by the tweets. Besides, they speak for themselves.
Ok is not the exception. Every day racists are being exposed for what they stand for and for who they are.

Given the NFL players’ majority-Black demographic and the league’s laissez faire approach to racism, it stands to reason that there will be no repercussions against Ok for her problematic behavior. It’s just another embarrassing, hypocritical notch on the NFL’s tarnished reputation.
As the NFL continues to ponder how Black players should be punished for taking a knee during the national anthem, maybe while it looks for ways to dole out punishments, it should take a long hard look in the mirror.
