Black Former NFL Player Defends His Daughter Against White Predator

Former NFL player for the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions, Tony Beckham, caught a white man fondling himself outside of his daughter’s window at 6:40 a.m. Monday (she had just exited the shower to get dressed), and runs outside, tackles him, his wife calls the police, and the man is arrested.

Geoffrey Cassidy, 48, was arrested Monday in Palm Beach County on a charge of lewd and lascivious exhibition and is being held at the West Detention Center on a $1,500 bond.

Beckham’s daughter saw Cassidy outside her window, and Beckham saw him in the bushes with his hand in his pants.

“I caught him at the apartment over there and we just had a good conversation,” Beckham said.

That conversation ended in Cassidy’s busted lip, fractures to his face, and a black eye.

When police arrived, Cassidy was fighting with Beckham, attempting to get away, but he fell and police handcuffed the predator.

Cassidy denied the crime, saying his car had broken down and he was just waiting for it to cool.

Beckham said he was worried this isn’t Cassidy’s first predatory offense and wants to warn others: “If he was brave enough to do it right here, I know it is not the first time he has done that before.”

Amanda, Beckham’s wife said, “I don’t know if this was his first time coming here, if he’s been here before or where he’s seen us or how he picked us out, but it’s scary.”

“I’m sorry that it happened to me. I’m sorry that it happened to him,” Beckham said. “He’s never going to do that again on this side of town.”

Thankfully, there was no shooting, no confusing the Black man as the assailant, no beatings by police. Just the white man who was committing a crime, being arrested, and having been taught a lesson by a Black dad protecting his child.

Milkwaukee Bucks’ Sterling Brown, former NFL prospect Desmond Marrow , tennis pro James Blake, all tackled or beaten and wrongfully arrested by police were not treated as well.
