Which Presidential Blog Is Best for Diversity?
I must comment on Norma Villarreal post inregard to Obama..she states "I feel that if he were to get into office he will only focus on his black people". This so typical of people who cannot & willnot research & think for themselves. "Focus on his black people"? What is that about?! I didn't know that Obama had black people!!! This man is for all people, no matter the color. It's so crazy when people make comments about others because of their own insecurities!

I simply had to respond to Norma V's & Shirazeh's posts. Norma seems to be under the impression that chronological age is the source of wisdom and leadership ability. It certainly can be, but not in Mr. McCain's case. Mr. Obama draws more positive attention (from the media and citizens) because he is enthralling MORE VOTERS. Shirazeh mentions the important issue of disability oppression - certainly overlooked in too many ways. I agree that our sisters and brothers with disabilities must be better supported. The world is not an accessible place and the funding is horrendous. Hopefully, this can be rectified by our reps on the Hill. My bottom line issues are simple: a woman's right to choose and glbt civil rights. For me, the answer is clear: McCain will, without a doubt, appoint judges to the Supreme Court whose first mission would be to overturn Roe v. Wade and make the lives of glbt folks (and the rest of us, by proxy) worse. No thanks. I'll stick with the new guy who'll bring down the 'Don't ask, don't tell' policy. McCain was recently quoted in Curve Magazine as not even being familiar with the term 'glbt'. Has he been living under a rock?? As someone who IS living in the 21 st century, McCain is the one who frightens me...

McCains blog...he needs to be given more of a chance for people to read his blogs to get to know the man but all of the attention has gone to Obama. Why? I don't know, I feel that if he were to get into office he will only focus on his black people. Maybe even the muslems. God help us. Todays youth doesn't know what they are voting for because in the past we have had older men for presidents. That meant experience!!!!

As far as diversity goes, I am not afraid (though perhaps ashamed) to admit that the United States falls behind. Sure, we invite lots of different people here from various ethnic backgrounds, but post 9/11 has increased the age old American fear of anything that looks different is not to be trusted. I don't believe that all conservatives are racist, but their policies sure show a tendency towards classism and racism. Its great that McCain wants to support the disabled veterans...perhaps if the intitial conservative movement leaders had considered that in the first place, these veterans wouldn't be in the position they are now. Talk about Barack Obama all you want, but if conservatives of the past (and present) were not even remotely interested in the welfare of their citizens and the ones who fought bravely for our country, what makes any of us think that McCain would really be any different. Disabled vets is his platform, his only way to possibly win the ticket, but conservatives have let the majority of Americans down over and over again. We will see how his policies and incentives for change add up.

McReagaBush has voted AGAINST recognizing the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as one worthy to be honored as a federal holiday for numerous years. Was the reversal on that vote due to MAYBE gaining support from registered black voters? I am anxiously waiting for McReagaBush to formally ban May 5 from the Arizona calendar. The roots of one's being will always dominate one's ability in fairness. I find Mr. Obama's blog capable and fully demonstrating a clear understanding of DIVERSITY and INCLUDING ALL. I welcome this needed change from the stuffed shirts and blouses of past.
