A USA Today/Gallup poll of likely voters indicates that more Americans are concerned about John McCain's age than they are about Barack Obama being half-Black. When asked which attribute would make each presidential candidate a less-effective leader, 23 percent of respondents said McCain's age while only 8 percent cited Obama's race.
Eighty-two percent of those polled said Obama's race would not make any difference at all in his ability to govern, while 65 percent said McCain's age would not make a difference.
"As far as the public is concerned, Obama's race appears to be a wash in terms of perceptions about his ability to serve effectively as president," says the report. "There is more expressed concerned about McCain's age."
