| | Why It's on the Top 50: In its fifth year on the list, Sprint excels in the areas of Human Capital and Corporate and Organizational Communications.
Diversity Strengths: The work force is 40 percent Black, Latino, Asian and Native American, which includes 19.5 percent Blacks, 12.25 percent Latinos and 6.5 percent Asians. New hires, however, are 51 percent from these groups, showing significant progress. That includes 27 percent Blacks, 15.5 percent Latinos and 5 percent Asians.
Sprint has a valuable mentoring program with 25 percent of managers participating. The company has metrics for mentoring, formal goals, training and follow-through.
Sprint has strong work/life programs, including lactation programs, employee-assistance programs, onsite fitness and health facilities, assistance with personal, legal and financial issues, and a homeownership-assistance program.
The company has mandatory diversity training for its entire U.S. work force, called All Inclusive Workplace Training, which is offered every month.
