Diversity Strengths: The company has strong employee groups, which it calls affinity groups, and some have been active for more than 10 years. The Women's Leadership Initiative is more than 13 years old with more than 100 chapters outside of the United States. Last year, the company held three women-of-color/multicultural leadership programs and has three men-of-color/multicultural leadership programs scheduled for this year.
In 2007, Johnson & Johnson held its first Global Diversity Summit, with more than 400 worldwide participants. The first Global Recognition Program for Diversity and Inclusion Best Practices included winners from many locations outside the United States, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Russia and Brazil. In addition, Chairman and CEO Bill Weldon's video and e-mail stressing the importance of diversity to the business was circulated to employees worldwide.
