Bank of America is No. 1 on The 2007 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® list. Chrysler Financial and the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) Foundation have recognized the nation's top Black newspapers in the 2008 Chrysler Financial/NNPA Foundation Entrepreneurial Award Program. Awards were given based on the entries with "the most creativity, original idea, innovative use of resources, entrepreneurial spirit, strategic planning, plan execution and community benefit." Denise Rolark Barnes, publisher of the newspaper The Washington Informer, received a host of prizes at the "NewsMaker of the Year" Dinner in Washington, D.C., including $10,000 cash, the use of a Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge vehicle for one week, and a signature sculpture, designed by artist Cheryl Foster. The runner up, The Tri-State Defender, received the 2008 Entrepreneurial Award Honorable Mention prize: $2,500 cash and a plaque. The Chrysler Financial Award Program is part of Chrysler Financial's promise to promote "positive, social change in the communities in which they conduct business." DaimlerChrysler is No. 42 on The 2007 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list. The Verizon Foundation is helping to create better opportunities for Black-owned businesses by granting $250,000 for the creation of the African-American Supplier Engagement Collaboration, which will include members of the National Black Business Council, the California Black Chamber of Commerce and the Black Business Association. The African-American Supplier Engagement Collaboration is seeking to create business opportunities for both major Verizon is No. 6 on The 2007 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list. |
