Offensive Ad Campaign Stigmatizes Kids, Infuriates Parents & Rights Groups

An NYU Child Study Center ad "designed as a provocative wake up to create awareness and spark dialogue about childhood psychiatric disorders" has many parents of children with disabilities and the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network (ASAN) furious. The campaign, entitled "Ransom Notes," features ransom letters signed by a disability, stating that "your child will pay," reports ASAN. The organization has launched a full campaign against the ad. The NYU team released a statement saying: "We hope to both generate a national dialogue that will end the stigma surrounding childhood psychiatric disorders and advance the science, giving children the help they need and deserve." But with a campaign like that, who really needs the wake-up call?

That Makes 6 Asian Fortune 500 CEOs

On Tuesday, Citigroup tapped newbie Vikram S. Pandit, who joined the bank just six months ago, to pull it out of the rubble from the mortgage meltdown that has caused the company's stock price to plummet 40 points. Pandit is one of only six Asian Fortune 500 CEOs. The company's diversified model, masterminded by Sanford I. Weill, has come under criticism from investors who say Citigroup has become too unwieldy to be managed effectively. Its stock price has fallen 40 percent this year and its balance sheet is overstretched, reports The New York Times. The four-member search party headed by Richard Parsons, retiring Time Warner CEO, also anointed Winfried F. W. Bischoff, the acting chief executive, as chairman.

NBA Won't Punish Isiah, MSG for $11.5M Sex-Harassment Lawsuit

NBA Commissioner David Stern announced he will not punish Madison Square Garden or Isiah Thomas for their involvement in a sexual-harassment lawsuit that embarrassed the Knicks and the league, reports The Associated Press. Instead, the league commander-in-chief said they will focus on "ensuring that all teams have appropriate policies, clearly communicated to their employees, focusing on respect in the workplace including the prohibition of sexual harassment." The new initiative comes a day after MSG settled a sexual-harassment lawsuit with Anucha Browne Sanders against Thomas and Madison Square Garden CEO James Dolan. Anti-Immigrant Groups Help Huckabee Poll Numbers

Despite having fewer dollars and a smaller volunteer staff than his competitors, GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has been gaining in the polls in an interesting turn of events. Consider this: When opponent Mitt Romney unveiled a negative TV ad in Iowa slamming Huckabee as soft on undocumented immigrants, Huckabee struck back and successfully gained the support of anti-undocumented-immigration groups who have banded together and picked their guy. According to the poll, "grassroots conservatives find Huckabee among the most trustworthy on the issue of stopping illegal immigration," reports National Public Radio.
