MGM MIRAGE announced that $6.2 million has been raised by the company's employees as a contribution to the communities where they live and work. The donation is destined to be the foundation for 87 grants, which will be given to 70 nonprofit organizations and other community programs.
The contributions were compiled through the company's annual fundraising campaign, the MGM MIRAGE Voice Foundation.
The company also awarded a $1,000 mini-grant to four employees for the charity institutions where they volunteer. Since the foundation of the MGM MIRAGE Voice Foundation, the company has donated more than $24 million to more than 1,000 organizations.
MGM MIRAGE is No. 39 on The 2007 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® list.
MetLife Foundation, associated with The National Alliance for Caregiving, announced the recognition of community-based programs dedicated to support family-care programs for older adults during the National Family Caregiver Awards.
Winners were selected from around 100 non-profit organizations participating. The institutions are specialized in assisting family caregivers in their struggle to keep older adults close to their family and living in their own homes.
The top winners were awarded $25,000 each to maintain their initiatives. Family Caregiving gives around $306 million annually to older adults for health and nursing care services.
MetLife is No. 5 on The Top 10 Companies for Asian Americans and is one of DiversityInc's 25 Noteworthy Companies in 2007.
American Express and the Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) held the Out of the Blue Kindness and giving campaign with a special appearance by Ruben Studdard of "American Idol." The event was held July 30 in Atlanta and was expected to raise $500,000 from American Express cardholders to help the BGCA.
As part of the celebration, American Express facilitated free admissions to members of the Boys & Girls Club of America to assist the Georgia Aquarium. It will also be shown in other U.S. cities such as at Dallas, Miami and Seattle.
American Express is No. 23 on The 2007 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity list.
