Which Candidate Is Wealthiest?

 

The recent release of the presidential candidates' required federal financial-disclosure forms suggests that all the candidates are wealthy and are said to belong to the "millionaire's club." Democratic Sen. Barack Obama registers at the bottom of this list. Obama has reported his family's net worth as between $456,000 and $1.14 million. Republican Rudy Giuliani is worth between $13 million and $45 million, and former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., reported having an income of more than $7.1 million. Read more.

 

Asian and Pacific Islander Communities Discriminated Against for Sexual Orientation

 

Within the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities, homophobia is at an all-time high, according to new research. A large national survey found that APIs within the GLBT communities experience discrimination on a regular basis. The study, published by the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, found that 75 percent API GLBT individuals reported experiencing discrimination and harassment based on their sexual orientation within both the API and GLBT communities. Jimmy Carter Calls on Congress to Re-Visit 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

As the "don't ask, don't tell" policy continues to draw fire from gays and lesbians with the desire to serve in the armed forces, former President Jimmy Carter, recipient of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, has called on Congress to revisit the military's ban on enlisting openly lesbian, gay and bisexual personnel. In a statement to Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), Carter said during his years as the U.S. Naval Academy's commander-in-chief, he strived to ensure all personnel were treated as equals. Beyoncé Leads BET Awards Nominees

 

BET has announced the nominees for its 2007 BET Awards. Among all the categories, the music category stands out, with singer Beyoncé Knowles earning a leading six nominations, including nominations for top female R&B artist, video for "Irreplaceable" and duets with Jay-Z on "Deja Vu" and "Upgrade U." Other musical nominees include Sean "Puffy" Combs, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Ludacris for the male hip-hop category. "Dreamgirls" Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, R&B singer Ciara, Akon and the group Gnarls Barkley all had three nominations. Diana Ross is expected to be honored with BET's Lifetime Achievement Award and actor Don Cheadle will be given the Humanitarian Award for his efforts at ending the genocide in Darfur, reports The Chicago Tribune.
