Why It's on the Top 50: In its fifth year competing for the Top 50, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida continues to distinguish itself from the pack with its strong Human Capital showing and its CEO Commitment.

Twenty-eight percent of managers are people of color (the Top 50 average is 25 percent). The company allocates 50 percent of its philanthropic efforts to ethnic and GLBT charities (the Top 50 average is 33 percent). And 14.3 percent of its procurement goes to minority- and women-owned suppliers (the Top 50 average is 9.7 percent).

Recent Diversity Success: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida hosted the first Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association Blue Diversity Conference in Orlando, Fla., in April.
