Bill O'Reilly Vs. Geraldo Rivera on 'Illegal Aliens' and Drunk Driving

Does Bill O'Reilly believe everything he says, or are his tirades media stunts to attract more viewers to his FOX News program? This clip of O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera arguing, literally shouting over each other, about a Virginia Beach drunk-driving case says it all. Rivera shouts, "Don't obscure a tragedy to make a cheap political point." The case involves Alfredo Ramos, 22, an undocumented immigrant, who was charged with aggravated involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of two teens after he crashed into the back of their car. They died of their injuries. Ramos had a record of three alcohol-related convictions and is in jail without bond facing a maximum of 40 years in prison if convicted. O'Reilly called local leaders villains and said the city is a sanctuary for undocumented workers--only he didn't call them that. Read more.

Obama's Success Reveals Clinton's Struggle With Black Females

While Hillary Clinton's husband may be popularly referred to as the "first black president," the success of Barack Obama's fundraising indicates the male Clinton's label does not mean Sen. Clinton gets a blank check from black voters. Black women interviewed in Harlem, N.Y., said they questioned Sen. Clinton's vote for the Iraq war resolution at the outset of the war. Black women register and turn out to vote in higher numbers than the overall population, said Donna Brazile, a Democratic strategist and a black woman who managed the presidential campaign for former Vice President Al Gore. "Black women tend to make their minds up early, and they get involved in other ways as well," said Brazile, accorsding to CNN.com.

N.C. Senate Apologizes for Slavery

"This is a way to reflect upon this and express our understanding and our regret for official actions of our state." Those are the words of N.C. Senate Majority Leader Tony Rand, a Democrat and primary sponsor of a state resolution that would effectively apologize for the state's involvement in slavery if ratified by the N.C. House. Beyond a simple apology, the resolution recounts a long history of discrimination against North Carolina's black population: from the first slaves in the British colony of "Carolina" in 1669, through the Civil War, and then Jim Crow laws that promoted inequality into the mid-1900s, reports CNN.com.

Newt Gingrich Apologizes ... Sort Of

Apparently Spanish is not the language of prosperity, according to Newt Gingrich's apology for equating bilingual education with "the language of living in a ghetto." Gingrich's apology was aired on YouTube in both Spanish and English. Gingrich, who is considering a White House run, also said in an interview following his apology, "What I was simply saying is that a language barrier--any language barrier, whether you speak Hindi, Chinese, Vietnamese--hampers a person's ability to communicate in the language of prosperity." Nancy Pelosi Challenges Saudi Leaders on Dearth of Women Leaders

The United States' first female Speaker of the House is making waves, sans abaya, on her Middle East tour. Now in Saudi Arabia, Pelosi chose not to wear the long black robe, called an abaya, that women have to wear in the kingdom, opting for a pantsuit instead. Visiting women dignitaries usually do not wear the robe. Asked if she had discussed the lack of women on the council, she told reporters, "The issue has been brought up in our discussions with the Saudis on this trip", according to CNN.com.

Mary Cheney to Have Baby Boy

Mary Cheney, 38, the daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, is having a baby boy with her partner, Heather Poe, 45. In February, Mary Cheney spoke at Barnard College in Manhattan, defending her pregnancy and same-sex parenting. "Every piece of remotely responsible research that has been done in the last 20 years has shown there is no difference between children raised by same-sex parents and children raised by opposite-sex parents," she told the crowd. "What matters is being raised in a stable, loving environment." Read more.

GLAAD Calls for Apology for Use of Anti-Gay Slurs

Following the use of anti-gay slurs by WFNY radio shock-jocks "JV" (Jeff Vandergrift) and "Elvis" (Dan Lay) the Gay, Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is calling for radio listeners to write or call WFNY 92.3 Free FM's program director and vice president and GM to demand a formal on-air apology from the shock-jocks. Also, GLAAD wants callers to ask station management to acknowledge the importance of acceptance and that the station will not tolerate such defamation again. JV and Elvis, during their show that featured a local band, launched an anti-gay tirade on the band's drummer after he criticized the show. Read more.

Jennifer Aniston Honored by Gay Group

GLAAD will honor actress Jennifer Aniston with the Vanguard Award for her efforts to support GLBT issues. Aniston will receive the award at GLAAD's Media Awards on April 14, held in Los Angeles. In addition to Aniston, tennis legend Martina Navratilova, who is openly gay, will be honored with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award. Navratilova will be presented her award by openly gay former 'N Sync member Lance Bass. "Grey's Anatomy" actor T. R. Knight, who is also openly gay, will open the show. The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor mainstream media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the GLBT community and the issues that affect their lives. Read more.
