Ludacris Shows Oprah and O'Reilly Love

Ludacris is a rapper/actor. It's in his DNA to swear. But word has it that Ludacris swears so much, most of his interviews have to be edited, especially for "The Oprah Winfrey Show." His language and image are even less impressive to Bill O'Reilly, who criticized Ludacris' PepsiCo commercial on his FOX News show "The O'Reilly Factor." In the April 2006 issue of GQ, Ludacris fought his critics, saying Oprah gave him "a hard time" because he is a rapper. Ludacris took the high road--instead of using his 2007 Grammy win for Best Rap Album as an opportunity to bad-mouth Oprah and O'Reilly, Ludacris gave two big shout-outs, one to O'Reilly and a special "I Love Ya" to his "good friend" Oprah. Good Week for Undocumented Immigrants as BofA Reaches Out

Bank of America (No. 25 on The 2006 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® list) has launched a new plan to reach Latinos, the nation's fastest-growing group. This clearly is part of a trend in the financial-services industry. Bank of America is offering credit cards to people without Social Security numbers or credit histories, as long as they have had a checking account with the bank for three months. This, of course, means undocumented immigrants, most of whom are Latino. By widening its net, Bank of America hopes to build good will and wealth in the communities. Read more.

U.S. to Help Europe Integrate Muslims

Muslims from the Middle East are not the only ones under siege these days. European Muslims are rapidly becoming an isolated group. Ever since the 2005 London transit-system bombings, fears involving European Muslims also have become a growing concern. Many Western Europeans strongly feel Muslims are a threat to their society. Some are calling it a "nativist surge" among Western Europeans, but the U.S. State Department says this is a huge problem that requires much-needed attention and that Europeans need to learn how to integrate Muslims more effectively. Has '24' Gone Too Far?

Has Joel Surnow, show creator of the controversial primetime series "24," gone too far? The military feels strongly that the TV program promotes unethical and illegal behavior. U.S. Army Brigadier General Patrick Finnegan, dean of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, says he's noticed the show's negative impact on the training and performance of real American soldiers. For fear that behavior could get worse, Finnegan is asking Surnow and other producers to stop depicting soldier interrogation scenes with brutal torture. Read more. (See also: Oh, Jack Bauer! Does '24' Discriminate?)

John Amaechi Story, No Big Deal?

In the game of sports, it's all about how well you play the game, not how straight or gay you are. Last week's "coming out" book party for John Amaechi's Man in the Middle has the sports world wondering if gay athletes warrant so much attention. Amaechi is not the first superstar athlete to come out, but he may go down in history as the worst Utah Jazz player, according to The Salt Lake Tribune's Steve Luhm. Read more. It's a Black and Black Issue

Radio-show personality Tom Joyner of the "The Tom Joyner Morning Show" is angry. At this year's State of the Black Union held at Virginia's Hampton University, Joyner expressed his strong opinions on black America. Joyner said black people need to stop looking to "others" for advice on their community, but he received mixed reviews. Some of Joyner's critics say he's leaving out other important issues like violent rap music, where others would make the case that Joyner is the most important black man in black America. Romney Makes It Official

At the official announcement of his 2008 presidential run, the one-time former Republican governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney, says he doesn't believe Washington can be successfully transformed from within by a lifelong politician.  Romney believes the reason he should be elected president is because his political values are a byproduct of his experiences inside and outside of government. Instead, Romney wants to convince voters he has the know-how to lead the country at its crossroads. In his speech, Romney shared his success working in the private, voluntary and public sectors in support of his campaign, reports CBS2 Chicago Station.
