The police captain who was placed on leave after revealing to an officer his “white male privilege” is back to work. And the man who complained against her was reportedly suspended for two days.
Captain Carri Weber of the Plainfield Police Department in Indiana called out a fellow officer when he expressed confusion about police violence during a Police Supervisors Transgender Awareness Training session.

The officer claimed to be “racially and sexistly slurred” after being informed he is a white man.
The previously unknown officer has been identified by The Washington Post as Captain Scott Arndt. According to a statement obtained by The Post, Arndt served a two-day suspension following the incident for “conduct unbecoming a Plainfield Police officer.”
According to a statement from the Plainfield Police Department:
“The decision was made by the Plainfield’s Board of Police Commissioners to reinstate Captain Weber to her current position. The Plainfield Police Department fully supports the training that was held to embrace the diversity in our community. The safety and security of the visitors and residents of the Town of Plainfield remains our first priority. We want to thank our officers that day-in and day-out provide the same level of professional service to every member of our community.”
Moments before the exchange in question took place, Arndt was questioning statistics that transgender people are more than three times more likely than cisgender people to experience police violence. This disbelief led him to question the existence of police violence.
“My wife has never been part of police violence, most of the people that I know have never accused the police of violence,” Arndt said during the training last month, according to a video of the seminar.
“That’s because of white male privilege,” Weber responded.
Weber repeated her claim, which was received by an uproar in the room.
“Chief, are you gonna let her get away with that Seriously” Arndt snapped. “I’m asking a legitimate question here, and I’m getting taught ‘white privilege’ Are you serious I find that extremely offensive.”
“No, I will leave,” he said.
Arndt filed a complaint in which he claimed he was “racially and sexistly slurred by Captain Carri Weber.”
