'Kill Everyone in China': ABC Apologizes for Off-Color Joke

No, Jimmy Kimmel, you cannot kill an entire country to avoid paying your debts. And, no, suggesting that “as a joke” isn’t funny.

ABC has released a statement apologizing for the remark, which came during an Oct. 16 segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live! called “Kids Table” that was supposed to make light of the childish behavior in Congress during the government shutdown. In it, Kimmel asks four children how America should pay its $1.3 trillion debt to China. The first child, a six-year-old named Braxton, responds that the U.S. should “shoot cannons all the way over and kill everyone in China.”
