It was Missouri State Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson who helped deescalate protests in Ferguson, Mo., this summer, marching with protesters when the highway patrol took the lead in policing the town.
“It means a lot to me personally that we break this cycle of violence,” Johnson, a Ferguson native, said at the time.
