Since its April 24 release date, Avril Lavigne’s new music video for the song “Hello Kitty” has received quite a bit of criticism, including accusations that Lavigne is a racist.
The videowhich was shot in Tokyofeatures the singer with four expressionless and robotic backup dancers as she chants the Japanese words arigato and kawaii through the song. The singer is also seen eating sushi and drinking sake as she sings about having an all-girls slumber party.
