Ameren Illinois President Recognized for Commitment to Communities

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (June 17, 2013) Richard J. Mark, president and CEO of Ameren Illinois, received two awards for his volunteer service to local communities and support for organizations that help people in need.

On June 15, Mark received the Pillar of Hope award from Call for Help, a Southwestern Illinois nonprofit, crisis-service agency. The award was given in honor of his steadfast commitment and exemplary contributions to the agency and those it supports.

At the Centennial Gala for the St. Louis City NAACP, Mark was recognized for his dedication and leadership to improve the economic and social growth of St. Louis communities with the Commitment to St. Louis award.

Mark has served on a variety of boards and organizations at the local, state and national level throughout his career. Since joining Ameren in 2002, he has remained very active in the community by taking part in many volunteer efforts throughout Illinois.

“My parents instilled in me the importance of giving back. They told me not to just live and work in a community, but to be a part of it,” Mark said. “By giving your time and support, you can truly make a difference, which is why as a company and as individuals we support and work with many charitable organizations. If we can help lift people up, they can help themselves and create a stronger community.”
