Ameren Illinois Donation Will Provide Supportive Alternatives for East St. Louis Youth

Richard Mark, President and CEO, Ameren Illinois presented the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center with a $25,000 check to support youth and senior citizen activities in East St. Louis. The center has mentors who provide supportive alternatives to the streets for vulnerable young people as well as health and welfare services for senior citizens. “Jackie’s drive, determination and vision took her from East St. Louis to Olympic gold medalist to being regarded as one of the greatest female athletes ever,” Mark says. “Through her JJK Center, she hopes to instill the same drive, determination and vision for the youth of East St. Louis, and I am proud to support her foundation.”


“The $25,000 that Ameren Illinois donated tells me they invest in communities and in the lives of the people they serve,” says Angela Roberson, executive director of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation. “The monies will support programs and operations of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center.”
