Our company TEVET, LLC is a Supplier to Rockwell Collins. As a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) located in a HUBZone in Mosheim, TN we see first hand Mr. Clay Jones commitment to insuring that Rockwell Collins provides fair and unbiased opportunities for all, including small businesses like ours. This was a great article to share Mr. Clay Jones efforts in insuring that Rockwell Collins follows his personal principles.

As a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, working with a group of volunteers educating Iowans about diversity, I met someone in Cedar Rapids six years ago that said "Jairo, you need to check out Rockwell Collins. They have a CEO that really believes in what you are trying to do."
I thought "sure, we'll see... CEOs talk a lot..."
After researching the company and the leadership, a year later I joined Rockwell Collins. And, within months, I learned what 'walking the talk' really means. I witnessed a leadership team that is passionate about diversity AND inclusion. A company that is committed to listening to different points of view and to learning from contributors with different backgrounds.
Rockwell Collins: you ROCK!

All I can say is WOW! Mr. Jones has been added to my list of people to meet. Of the milliions of diversity articles I have read, NONE of them "hit the nail on the head", from ALL spectrums, like this one has. I will be watching for openings in his company!!

What a great article. It would be interesting to learn more about the conversations and process that Clay Jones used to bring his executive leaders onboard with his journey for diversity and inclusion. I believe more CEO, Executive Directors need some guidance and coaching on what transpires when their executive team members oppose the journey and create barriers and resistance for the change, which CEO is training to lead.

Barbara, I find your article very interesting. Being someone who as recently let go from my company for being Gay and Latin, I've developed a fear of working in Government Contracting. Indeed my bosses exact words were "Government contracting is a straight, white, male, conservative business and you will never be accepted". This broke me and the end result devastated my ability to trust the professional world.

I admire this interview and Rockwell Collins successfully brings to point the importance of not only accepting diversity for compliance, but truly embracing it. The company I worked for loved to taught Diversity but it's President told me "I will never create a Diversity Committee". I am elated to see that Rockwell does not feel the same.

Thank you
