Sodexo: A Culture of Appreciation Pays it Forward

A high five, a pat on the back, a thumbs up, an email from your boss, a kudos during a meetingwe all like to feel appreciated at work. Am I right

When your work is valued, you are motivated to work harder. And when you are recognized, something is triggered in your brain (the hypothalamus to be exact) that improves your overall well-being and health.

Appreciation can take many forms within an organization and at Sodexo (No. 6 on the Fair360, formerly DiversityInc Top 50 Companies list), it has been a constant theme on this blog for our Chefs, Facilities Managers, Food Service Managers, Housekeeping Managers and Healthcare Technology Management Professionals

During Healthcare Technology Management Week, Sodexo CTM leadership prepared and packed celebration boxes for our hardworking technicians, honoring them as “O-FISH-ALLY the best” in the business!

Each member of our team is required to have a strong technical ability to maintain and repair complex medical equipment and provide the right level and mix of skill and experience to effectively support our clients. By doing so, they have positioned Sodexo CTM as a thought leader and competitive force in the market.

Thanking our employees for their commitment and dedication also created a pay-it-forward culture for one team in particular.

“Being new to the hospital, my team and I thought it would be fun to give something back to the hospital. With the help of Sodexo Food Services we put on an ice cream social, with all the toppings. We were able to explain who we are, what we do, and the value we add to the hospital, not to mention give out free ice cream. It was a great success, as we distributed over 15 gallons of ice cream!” shared Denise Young, Director of CTM for Sodexo at Signature Health Brockton Hospital.

Hearing “thank you” often is a big motivator to stay committed to your role and your company and correlates to your happiness in and out of the workplace.
