National Business & Disability Council Boot Camp Lets Member Companies Get in Shape for Proposed OFCCP Rule Change

April 23, 2013 – The National Business & Disability Council (NBDC) at The Viscardi Center, whose membership includes many federal contractors, is offering its member companies a Boot Camp program to prepare them for the anticipated change the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ (OFCCP) will be making to the Section 503 rules. The proposed change may require that as much as 7% of federal contractors’ workforces be made up of people with disabilities.

“While the NBDC has made recommendations to help policymakers and regulators find more effective ways to stimulate a substantial increase in the employment of people with disabilities at all corporate levels,” explained Laura M. Francis, Executive Director at the National Business & Disability Council at The Viscardi Center, “it appears the rule change will be passed as proposed. We are offering programs to assist our members so that they can maintain full governmental compliance once the change is in effect.”

The NBDC Boot Camp can be held at a member company’s location or accessed online through a scheduled webinar. The Boot Camp can:

  • Address the OFCCP Rule and provide a concrete understanding along with some basic tools that HR and Recruitment teams can utilize to be more effective after the law is implemented.
  • Review an organization’s particular needs through customized webinars and post call wrap up sessions that focus on key tactical points so participants can take back to their organization information that will add more value to their best practice policies.
  • Provide onsite ‘problem solving’ sessions that both analyze the OFCCP Rule and  engage participants in ‘real time’ discussion to develop customized remedies that  directly impact the host organization.

For more information about the Boot Camp, NBDC members may contact Laura M. Francis at 516.465.1519 or lfrancis@viscardicenter.org.
